A 0.1% countywide sales tax hike is on deck for later this week, largely to fund road improvements outside cities and towns. Seattle city leaders are arguing that a proposed cap diverting several million dollars per year to other cities and towns is unfair.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson is announcing today the opening of a 75-unit enhanced tiny house shelter for people experiencing homelessness, located in the Interbay neighborhood.
The facility is a part of Wilson’s plan to open 1,000 new shelter beds per year, with 300 beds announced so far in 2026.
