Just finished the Santa Fe Institute course on complexity. @melaniemitchell.bsky.social Complexity: A Guided Tour once reshaped how I saw science and nudged me from experimental physiology toward modeling. The path hasn’t been easy, but this course and learning NetLogo renewed my motivation.
Multielectrode arrays can be used to investigate electric activity (field potential duration, conduction velocity, arrhythmic substrates, etc.) in cardiac tissue and cells. Useful to investigate the effect of diseases and drugs. 🧪
Experimental recordings alongside my 1st agent-based model (ABM) of calcium transients using @netlogo.bsky.social . Same experiments I once performed in real cells, now explored through an ABM. Still refining details, but already happy with the results. Same biology, just asking new questions.
Calcium imaging in cardiomyocytes is a method used to measure intracellular calcium levels and assess calcium dynamics. It is a powerful tool for investigating the effects of diseases and drugs on cardiac electrophysiology and contraction, providing insights into the mechanisms of arrhythmias. 🧪
