Nishitani remains one of the handful of beat em up devs who actually played the games. I'd say it's useful to use him & Final Fight as an example but modern bmup devs don't even see why Final Fight was & still is good 🥀
I'm about to crash out about shmup devs adding locked difficulties to their games Arcade devs 2000s onwards have a talent for only borrowing the worst parts of console games
The new Metal Slug thing is suicide fuel but this part is the funniest shit ever. It's a (prob AI generaetd) slogan tailor made to those people who think "depth" is when random rpg cruft. Replaces a substantive claim about difficulty with a completely meaningless buzzword

Got my first win in Mr. Driller. Haven’t been as immediately absorbed into a game like this in awhile.
Woke up to see a Metal Slug survivor-like
indie dev who heroically does not play or study games so as to maintain their pure creativity: "once you complete the procedurally generated level you pick between one of three upgrades"
Man this part went so clean. Shame how the run ended!
