“Masking” in #ADHD and autism = consciously or unconsciously suppressing traits to meet expectations.
Awareness of masking is important—but the goal isn’t “stop masking completely.”
It’s increasing flexibility:
→ When is masking useful?
→ When is it costly?
→ Where can you reduce it safely?
Making things easier isn’t a problem.
But when everything is optimized for comfort, we lose opportunities to build capacity.
Some friction isn’t harmful—it’s part of how we grow. #ADHD #ACT
Women with #ADHD are diagnosed ~5 years later than men.
Contributors include:
• Higher internalizing (anxiety, depression)
• Masking/compensation
• Criteria normed on males
Rising rates reflect delayed recognition-not overdiagnosis.

ADHD isn’t “can’t focus.” It’s a different way the brain handles attention, motivation, and reward.
Understanding that biology shifts the conversation from blame to support, and helps people use their strengths more effectively. #ADHD #ADHDAdults

Cannabis is often framed as low-risk—but the data are more mixed.
This isn’t a blanket “don’t use it.”
It’s a reminder to look at function:
→ What problem are you trying to solve?
→ What are the short- vs long-term effects?
→ Is it helping—or just changing how it feels in the moment?

A lot of ADHDers, financial struggles get framed as “bad habits.”
But underneath? Impulsivity, working memory limits, and a nervous system looking for relief.
When you understand that, the solutions change. #ADHD

Habit stacking = attaching a new behavior to something you already do consistently. #ADHD
Instead of: “I should start X”
Try: “After I do [existing habit], I will do [new behavior].”
Why it works:
• Reduces reliance on memory
• Uses existing routines as cues
• Lowers activation energy
Knowing what to do isn’t the problem.
If you have ADHD, you probably already know the strategies.
The hard part is doing them consistently.
That’s what my Adult ADHD Skills Class is for.
Starts May 5 → learnadhd.com
(+ provider-only cohort for clinicians)

Studies show the drug can exacerbate anxiety and teen use poses risks for developing brains.
Habit-stacking, a technique that’s gotten a lot of attention in recent years, can create a structured and effective routine when motivation alone isn’t enough.
