Financial consultants Deloitte conclude: the environmental damage done by Dutch agriculture (โ‚ฌ18.6 billion/year) exceeds its total economic added value (โ‚ฌ13.3 billion/year). Emissions of greenhouse gases, nitrogen deposition, and biodiversity loss due to agricultural activities dominate the damage.
Not only does meat (particularly red meat ๐Ÿฅฉ) have high environmental impacts (inc GHG emissions, pollution, land & water use), excess consumption also has negative #health impactsโ€”increasing the risk of diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
Likewise, people who reported caring about health and environmental issues were also more open to TCA. ๐Ÿ’กSo itโ€™s clear that a personโ€™s worldview and existing habits can shape their attitude toward sustainability measures like TCA.
๐ŸคBecause, in the end, everyone will benefit from a more #sustainable #FoodSystem
This is an important challenge for the TCA community: How can we gain trust and support from groups where change might be most impactful? Whatโ€™s the most effective way youโ€™ve seen for communicating TCA? Did it appeal to different kinds of audiences? Let us know in the comments ๐Ÿ‘‡
