Final prep before #haconf26 next weekend! Can't wait to attend (my first time as either a speaker or attendee!) with @colinmccormick.bsky.social next Saturday 🌟 @histassoc.bsky.social
@katieamery.bsky.social is amazing. Genius! @histassoc.bsky.social

Ignore the inevitable, instinctive, ad hominem, knee jerk hostility to a book on slavery and the monarchy in the right wing press. This is a better glimpse of @brookenewman.bsky.social’s new book:

Epstein managed different networks. The UK media has rightly centred the powerful pedophile ring. It has maintained an uncanny silence about the global, anti-democratic, far right political network. Farage is up to his neck in it. If it weren’t for unprecedented double standards it’d be career over.
Tony Buba and I need your help to spread the word about the world premiere of our new documentary film, *Becoming Benjamin Lay*, Saturday, April 11, 2026, 4:00 pm. We have a huge venue and need to fill it! Carnegie Library, 419 Library St., Braddock, PA. Tickets:

Give this a listen. @corinnefowler.bsky.social is sublime. If you havent bought Our Island Stories I'd highly recommend

Nigel Farage was the figurehead and his partner Laure Ferrari started it. Steve Bannon and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were providing almost daily support
I found out this week that Woodrow Wilson’s mum was from Carlisle and he loved cycling holidays in the Lake District. My Cumbrian Y12 history nerds were very happy to learn this fact (as was I!)
Happily I can now share this film I participated in: Walk The Land opens up the colonial history of the Yorkshire Dales. It's by a great Dutch film maker Peter Delpuet & features the poet Testament, with other locals being spontaneously interviewed. Password WTLDocmakers!

Brilliant thing about history is there's always something to learn even in the most familiar of lessons. I've just clicked why whether Becket deliberately remaining in the Cathedral is important - seeing martyrdom was considered vain.
