Congrats to Marblehead for barely hanging on to not having their town’s finances completely destroyed. They are by no means “in a good place” now, but they at least appear to be accepting the consequences of previous mistakes.

You can bet we have individuals of the same mindset in Swampscott. They just haven’t formed an official group yet.
An example of how the news just regurgitates police reports without applying a critical lens to them. The police report provided zero details on whether the child was actually in danger/harmed, but prints the police’s own back patting about how good of a job they did.
There was a pretty significant turnout yesterday in Marblehead (certainly much higher than for town meetings), but if you lose, then suddenly it’s not that the majority doesn’t agree with you…it’s something else.
Yeah, “shattered its 20-year turnout”numbers does not indicate a suppression of votes (and only those that would have voted no) due to parking.
I find it cruel that these people that continuously fight against both new taxes and new growth have the gall to pretend they want to help those struggling with affordability and blame it on “reckless spending”. The math doesn’t math when you look at the numbers.
