I am a parking reformer because I live in a country where self-professed environmentalists, like this @sierraclub.org leader, oppose affordable housing because it ”doesn’t have enough parking.”

Having paid over $1,200 for OHBMs' 4-day conference (early bird price), I do not understand why we don't have conferences using university infrastructure during the summer. Is there something I am missing? This money could be spent on so much fun stuff, dinners, networking, scholarships, etc.
esp, when in the US conferences tend to be at the bleakest hotel ever with $300+ a night rooms
