Gah, NAA RecordSearch is down just when I need it for checking something.
I'm not a fan of the concept of defaming the dead but Google should be held responsible for fake 'information', particularly when it defames the living with false accusations. And nobody should be relying on the "information" AI Overviews gives you without verifying every word. <End rant>

Millionth example of why Google AI Overviews (indeed all Gen AIs) can't be trusted. Here is it confidently telling me that Shimokado Zentaro was an Imperial Japanese Navy officer who was tried at Rabaul for mistreating, starving and forcing labour upon POWs and the civilian population ... cont 2/
