PMI found that over 51% of project dollars are wasted because teams didn't define the problem before jumping to a fix. That's half your budget burned because someone wanted to look "proactive". 3/7
High-performing teams spend 53% of their project time just framing the problem before generating a single solution. That sounds slow, but it's the reason they finish faster with more value-driven outcomes. 4/7
Being 'solutions oriented' is the most dangerously romanticized advice in the workplace today. And it might be killing your career. A thread... 1/7
You don't have to slow everything down... you just have to stop skipping the part that actually matters. Five minutes living in the problem space can save five months of spinning wheels. Start there. 7/7
You don't need a workshop or an expensive facilitator. - Rose, Thorn, Bud. - Toyoda's 5 Whys. A piece of paper, a pen, and good conversation. The barrier isn't resources... it's the habit of skipping straight to answers. It's what's been engrained into us. 5/7
My theory: stop calling it 'solutions oriented.' Start calling it Intentional Solutioning. Reward the most precise answer, not the fastest one. Outcomes toward jobs to be done beat outputs that create noise. 6/7
Morning pages time. If you aren’t doing these (and The Artist’s Way), I’d highly encourage it. It’s given me clarity, peace, and permission. The feeling of freedom after a session is worth it. Happy Sunday! #5amwritersclub #artistsway #morningpages #writingcommunity
Changing up how I show up on BlueSky. Still focused on getting my writing out. But I have more to give. Stay tuned.
That morning feeling when you discover a key automation and shortcut in the Apple OS system that makes you evil laugh. My dictation workflow might have just gotten crazy streamlined.
I've heard the same career advice over and over, whether it be in coffee chats, performance reviews, or leadership books. It's always 'bring solutions, don't bring problems.' But the advice is incomplete, and the missing context is expensive. 2/7
