This is Chief Judge Amanda Brailsford, a Biden appointee who in 2023 became the first woman to ever serve as a lifetime judge in the state of Idaho.
ICYMI: The Senate confirmed Trump lawyer and loyalist Justin Smith to the 8th Circuit last night. Advocates for a fair judiciary condemned the Senate’s confirmation of Smith, calling out his extreme record and longstanding fidelity to the president. nominationnotes.substack.com/p/advocates-...

"The unfinished work of freedom is not confined to history books. It lives in an ongoing effort to ensure that every citizen’s voice matters and every community is represented." Civil rights icon and DC native Wade Henderson makes the case for DC statehood. blackpressusa.com/op-ed-junete...

I really do think it's notable that, during Pride Month, the Senate just confirmed the third lifetime judicial nominee THIS MONTH who has a record of working in opposition to the rights of trans people. That has become a key qualification for individuals seeking a judicial appointment from Trump.

Senate Judiciary Committee has bumped up its markup this Thursday to 9AM (instead of 10:15). This has been cancelled a few times, so we'll see if it sticks this week! Committee will vote on six lifetime nominees: Ben Flowers, Matt Schwartz, Mike Hendershot, Rob Jones, Jeffrey Kuntz, and John Marck.

Reminder today: Michael Martin, Trump's judicial nominee supported by Peters and Slotkin, is the criminal chief in the Eastern District of Michigan, where at least one case against a Minneapolis protester was filed. Martin likely would have had to sign off on the politically motivated prosecution.
Hal Duncan didn't get the memo that nominees are now supposed to say that Joe Biden won "as a matter of law." Or maybe that's just what judicial nominees have been told to say.
He is set to receive a committee vote this Thursday and could be confirmed to a lifetime judgeship as soon as next week. During Pride.

Reminder that 6th Circuit nominee Ben Flowers filed a brief referring to gender-affirming care as an “ideology-driven push to maim vulnerable children" — and said that “Future generations will, one hopes, view this disturbing chapter of medical history the way that ours views the eugenics movement.”
