I think a fair example of approaching this kind of Imposter Syndrome would be D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder 1e. However, the creators had plenty of experience and helped work on 3.5 in the past. But they managed to expand upon what they already knew without dealing with permission from corpo.
I'm starting to work on my own first TTRPG. The hardest part in creating something is trying to avoid feeling like a reskin or clone with extra steps of something that was created just a couple of years ago. [1/2]
I know Calvin’s dad is already having a moment, but every terrible “outsource precious and fleeting moments with your children to tech so that you can spend more time on your work” pitch makes me think of that one strip I never really cared about as a kid, but care a lot about as an adult.
