“You act like an elder. So do not be surprised when the youth assumes it to be true”
She taps an ink-stained finger on her palm quire
“Do not form your thoughts into questions aloud then”
"I don't recall ever telling you how old I was!"
He pouts, then crosses his arms. "And I don't need a teacher. I'm only thinking aloud."
ᴀɢᴏᴛᴛ
ambrosius.
“I am not your teacher. perhaps master Qifrey will take you in as an apprentice. Even if you are several years his senior”
ᴀɢᴏᴛᴛ
"Repetition seals," he repeats. For all his verbal distaste for their thaumaturgical system, he still can't help but study it.
It's a habit, neither good nor bad.
"A pattern which instructs the spell to recast itself?"
ambrosius.
She placed her hands together, forging a circle with two halves of a ring. The spell makes the water evaporate in a warm glow.
“For the most part. The goal was to keep the owl around longer. I’ll have to try more repetition seals next time”
ᴀɢᴏᴛᴛ
He is... Promptly soaked I'm a substantial amount of water. His head tilts, smile never fading even beneath soaked hair. But his stilted stance betrays his discomfort.
"Did you discover what you'd hoped?"
As he asks, he whirls an index finger in the air. The water whisks out his hair and robes. ↷
ambrosius.
Above her palm a owl forms from the water in the air.
Then it flies up to land atop his head
“Remarkable.. So that's how master Qifrey moves the water sculptures”
And the water owl melts back into water.
“Ah.. Damn”
ᴀɢᴏᴛᴛ
For what it's worth, he does stand still. Some part of him wants to encourage her, and the other simply doesn't see the harm in doing so.
ambrosius.
“I’d prefer if you stay still. I need to test this spell. You seem the perfect height to test on”
She's drawing the spell in her palmquire.
ᴀɢᴏᴛᴛ
"Ahah... Well, I'll keep that in mind then. It's always good to take constructive criticism.
I do not think we are arguing. I thought I was speaking lightly, but without looking down upon you... Would you prefer more infantile language?"
ambrosius.
“Pollen has a terrible smell. One that ruins the freshness of blooming flowers. Now why exactly are you arguing with a thirteen-year-old witch?”
ᴀɢᴏᴛᴛ
"Such a strange thing to say... Here I was, thinking flowers smelled nice. Are you just reaching for something to complain about?"
Even if she is quite rude..! The mage only laughs in response.
"It's a good thing I'm no serious mage, then."
ambrosius.
“At least I do not stink of over-pollinated flowers. And no serious mage uses apples as a measurement. Grow up”
ᴀɢᴏᴛᴛ
"Nice argument but you're two apples tall, so I can't actually take anything you say seriously."
