This beautiful shell and soft stone necklace was found in a Neolithic cemetery in Wadi Nafūn, Oman. Whilst the majority of grave goods here were personal ornaments, the cemetery was built and maintained by multiple migratory communities. 🔗 from 2025 🆓 doi.org/10.15184/aqy... 🏺 #Archaeology

Haven’t been mudlarking for a few weeks but took myself off to the Thames Foreshore yesterday for a quick lark. Spotted this blue doughnut shaped glass bead, can’t see any striations (which means it wasn’t lampworked on a mandrel) indicating it’s probably 1930s or later. Sweet.
Flamin’ June.
Taking quite a bit of pleasure from news today that someone who behaved appallingly to me and others at work some years ago, then was promoted over & above their ability, has just been fired #schadenfreude #smallvictories
This small glass bowl is Anglo-Saxon and dates to the early C7th AD. That deep, rich blue colour is entrancing. 🏛️📷 BM

Lovely bit of social history, here. View from the Royal Festival Hall, 1950. This beautiful image was produced by SR Badmin for a set of contemporary postcards celebrating the Festival of Britain. And best of all … (1/2)

To the Philip Mould Gallery today, 18-19 Pall Mall, for the ‘Elizabeth I: Queen and Court’ exhibition. Particularly in love with the Clopton portrait of Elizabeth, her first as Queen, rather Gothic looking, intense, unusual black & white image. On till 10th July, free entry, highly recommend.
