Here is my hottest of hot Robert Altman takes: I’m rather fond of O. C. and Stiggs.
So, so, so true. Is that one short scene his best performance? It just might be.
Manos: The Hands of… Wait, they’ve probably shown that one already.
Movies I should have seen long ago but just watched for the first time on Criterion Channel: 1. The Straight Story. I know, I know, inexcusable, what took me so long? So beautiful, so great. 2. A Wedding. Not one of Altman’s best, but not without its charms. A treat for Pat McCormick completists.
To have to hear this shit without Rob Reiner, Sally Struthers, and Jean Stapleton also in the scene is such a fucking drag.
Seriously, if you’re a racist, don’t fucking move here. One of the many odd quirks about our state: we don’t like racists.
