This woodblock takes me back to the year I lived on Maui (decades ago). A friend had a boat that offered sunset cruises and we'd look back on the W.Maui Mountains, often surrounded by Humpback Whales. I moved to Honolulu for 2 years after that.

I love the violet and greens in this painting. I also like how the rule of thirds is incorporated into triangles making the composition sing.

I've had two stuffed peacocks on driftwood in my apt since the 1990's, When they die, they do not rot or decay for a very long time making them ideal for taxidermy & as a symbol or immortality. In Honolulu I saw white peafowl for the first time (wow).
