This woodblock takes me back to the year I lived on Maui (decades ago). A friend had a boat that offered sunset cruises and we'd look back on the W.Maui Mountains, often surrounded by Humpback Whales. I moved to Honolulu for 2 years after that.

I love the violet and greens in this painting. I also like how the rule of thirds is incorporated into triangles making the composition sing.

Japanese silkscreen with a very modern feel by Ay-O (1931-Present. Part of a series of cats done by the artist. This one is called "Anger."
Doesn't this woodblock look like its out of an early Studio Ghibli animation? It's called Car Town (Toyota) by Japanese Artist Fumio Kitaoka (1918-2007).
Eleven minutes but worth watching.
I've had two stuffed peacocks on driftwood in my apt since the 1990's, When they die, they do not rot or decay for a very long time making them ideal for taxidermy & as a symbol or immortality. In Honolulu I saw white peafowl for the first time (wow).
