Hidden in Plain Sight: Decades of Industrial‐Scale Fishing in the Ocean's Twilight Zone 🔗 buff.ly/hSOlTw4
A book I’d highly recommend reading — annoyingly the review for it was sent in just after the deadline for the summer edition of Ibis, but expect a glowing review of it in autumn edition
I prefer the animals to the other options (admittedly I’m a biologist, so of course I do)
Excellent article on the single biggest reason I remain a Labour member and support the Government: because we are, properly and determinedly, delivering radical change to combat the biggest threat we face as a species. Quite why we don't tell anyone about this I don't know.
Obviously not necessarily opposed (albeit a bit sceptical) to a Burnham leadership (especially for not this petty reason) , but part of me was hoping to get to 2037 without a Tab PM
Scientists discover 149 new marine species off Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands
It does all come back to the tax pledge, Hunt deliberately shafting them and Labour choosing to remain shafted has basically undermined their entire governing project.
We beat Cherry! She was beat by a Labour MP! And a ruddy good one as well; chap did some good work with the Edinburgh transport plan. Generally when your party beats another party’s MP you should be cheering that on not lamenting that the other party’s MP didn’t win!

Not to be all "what are you doing" but is there going to be any actual practical changes arising from a series of far right riots leaving people afraid and trapped in their own homes?

Side note: if Andy Burnham becomes PM, he'll be the first one educated at Cambridge since Stanley Baldwin, who matriculated in 1885.
We coulda had Hepworth, Henry Moore, the work of Christopher Wren on the bank notes but the goddamn animals won:

Keir Starmer's spokesman tells me there has been "no change" to the Government's policy on using X, despite Elon Musk helping to incite the hateful scenes we saw in Belfast last night. Also no new plans to take action against X for its role in the violence
