On this Day, The Pillersdorf Constitution is released. Partially inspired by the US Constitution, it gave civil rights to the Austrian populace, however it excluded many, including non-Germans from the newly formed parliament. By May it collapsed, and Emperor Ferdinand I abdicated in December 1848.
On this day, Austria’s Second Republic was established. A provisional government led by Karl Renner voided the 1938 Anschluss and began 10 years of Allied occupation by the US, UK, France, and the USSR. #Austria #WWII #History #Europe #ColdWar
