It's better to call something a genocide too early than too late, but it's no longer too early by any measure.
"Stop calling everything genocide!" I'll consider that when the world is no longer commiting five or more genocides at once every goddamn day.
Just because some country's leadership didn't score 100/100 on the metaphorical "genocide exam" doesn't mean they didn't try to get there. I point this out all the time, having studied several of them:
Raise your hand if you remember the fascists explicitly arguing against anti-bullying policies in schools that would break their closed "if you act like yourself despite knowing we'll bully you for it, you made a decision to get bullied and thus deserve to be bullied" closed logic loop.
