1️⃣ Supporters imagine themselves as part of “the people,” a community associated with overwhelmingly positive traits connected to identities such as the working class, the nation, and a perceived common-sense majority.
2️⃣ These identities evoke strong emotions, from love for fellow supporters to fannish attachment to leaders and anger or fear toward out-groups.
