Delighted to see over review and concept on the cover of this month's @cp-trendsendomet.bsky.social where we cover GLP-1s & SGLT2i as anti-inflammatory agents- co-authored with @nickjonesimmuno.bsky.social

Delighted to share our latest paper out today - led by @ardeena-berisha.bsky.social - we show that we can boost the anti-cancer activity of human MAIT cells by getting them to use lactate & also directing them using bi-specific engagers as a proof of concept

šØ New Publication Alert - out now in @science.org - We outline the environmental regulators of MAIT cells including the nutrients they need - with them coming into focus in cancer this is sure to be important - read it here doi.org/10.1126/scis...

Abstract. Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are unconventional T cells, which upon activation can display potent cytotoxic and cytokine-producing
****2-NBDG does not measure glucose uptake****
Just your regular reminder of this fact š.
See the rigorous proof of this fact in @lindavsinclair.bsky.social 2020 paper.
This paper was 6 years ago!! Stop using 2NBDG to measure glucose uptake already š

Don't miss out on your chance to attend "Fuelling the immune response IV: #UKimmunometabolismMeeting2026"
Those that have joined before will know these are fantastic meetings providing an open & productive forum to discuss really cool science

Assays to monitor the metabolic state or nutrient uptake capacity of immune cells at a single cell level are increasingly in demand. One assay, used by many immunologists, employs 2-(N-(7-Nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl)Amino)-2-Deoxyglucose ...
