The proposals to revise RIDDORโs list of occupational diseases omit reference to COVIDโ19, airborne infectious diseases, or Long COVID. A significant gap. SARSโCoVโ2 remains an occupational hazard in health & social care, education, & publicโfacing roles.

@zarahsultana.bsky.social please can you ask why after a Covid inquiry nothing has been mentioned yet about changing guidance that is incorrect and leaves us all at risk for any future Pandemic.
@greenpartyhan.bsky.social
Labour are too busy to pay attention to public health.
The covid19 inquiry concluded 5 weeks ago that the guidance was flawed and that sars-cov-2 is airborne.
The guidance is still wrong. This is appalling after a Covid inquiry.

This RIDDOR consultation to revise disease reporting appears to make no mention of COVIDโ19, airborne transmission, or Long COVID? That silence matters. Workers still face exposure risks, but is the system meant to record them keeping pace with reality?

This was entirely foreseeable once HCWs realised that, a few weeks earlier, (13/3/20) they'd been deceived into believing FRSMs would keep them safe while delivering close-quarter care to infectious patients.
HSE, to their eternal shame, stood by like toothless tigers and just let this happen.

The knew it was airborne from day 1.
We need these for Ebola because the virus can be aerosolised and still each day are photos of medical staff sadly wearing FRSM masks. ๐งต
