now that i think about it, many ship names use the beginning of one character's name and the ending of the other
(john watson+sherlock holmes=johnlock, carol sturka+zosia=stursia, fenris+anders=fenders)
while all the japanese ships I know use the first two syllables of the first names, don't they?
I saw a discussion on Twitter recently, where male Japanese GL fans said the name order in GL ships doesnt matter, but matters a lot in women's (BL) spaces, so there's that :DDD
oh! "yoshikaru" is what most western fans call them, I think 😆 the order of names is irrelevant in western ship names, too, so that's more convenient.
usually, if I see a western fan call them yoshihika/hikayoshi, I assume they feel really strongly about the order :D
wow, thank you so much! 🥰🥰
I really enjoyed thinking about what kind of emotionally-charged dialogue Satou would have with them, but what actually ended up happening is even better :DDD Yoshiki never losing his focus on Hikaru is so great 😁💕💕
I really love pieces of fanart of Yoshikaru kissing where Hikaru keeps staring at Yoshiki because he likes to watch his reactions, while Yoshiki gets embarrassed and looks away/shuts his eyes 🤭✨✨
well *I* love her 🤭 which doesn't mean she doesn't need her ass kicked 🥰
re fixed/nonfixed tags - I see, I'll try to remember 😁 but Im not worried, I like it either way 😎
western ship names sometimes get creative (for example, there's "Ineffable husbands" from Good Omens, or "Bumbleby" from RWBY). but most of the time, people just smash characters' names together in a way that sounds the most natural, I think. 🤭
....oh, a good example proving my point: the western name for the ship between Cloud Strife and Zack Fair is "Clack", and the japanese one is "Zakkura" :D
oh and sorry for rambling 😂
