Oakland’s first new separated bikeway of 2026 is ready to ride. Only 1 block of post-separation on 17th from Brush to Castro, but it’s a start. Lots more on the way for 2026!
A Bay Bridge bike ride on April 25 seeks to breathe life back into a cherished dream of cyclists and pedestrians. But the price tag has grown to $700 million.
We launched a bike bus in San Pablo! We spent months relationship-building, hosting bilingual workshops, and getting free bike repair so folks would be ready to ride. We'd love to do more! If you'd like to sustain this type of work, join our Monthly Giving Circle at BikeEastBay.org/MonthlyGiving

In addition to but separate from the 18th St project referenced in the KQED piece, Oakland is nearing completion now on a new 18th St bike lanes segment from Market to MLK. I’m excited for this raised, protected bike waiting area at Brush that the infrastructure committee I co-chair advocated for.
