Looks like it really was just a defective card. Got a replacement and it worked immediately and with not further changes. Now my video transcodes should get quite a nice speed-boost.
But to get back to your original post, none of these things have anything to do with corporate manipulation, which is why I don't really follow your argument. Social rules can definitely be suffocating at times, but that's not the same as corporate manipulation.

Is there a way to change what audio device VRChat is outputting to from the game itself, so that two instances running alongside each other can output to different devices?
VRChat's own help page says that this is an option in the Quick Menu, but I only have input settings there, not output.
Someone came up to me with that problem in one of my worlds on Friday. Setting the player to use something other than "AVPro Best" helped (this was ProTV).
Seems to be something about the combination of twitch + AMD GPU + AVPro

We're putting on another birthday event this year, and it's actually on the real days as well (June 19th for Higgs and me, June 20th for Burger)! Just need to see if I can remember how VJing works, the last time I did it was last years birthday event, lol
