I did a panel earlier this year on character development, and the idea of "earned subversion," where there an "earned" payoff to keeping a characters traits very consistent for a long time, for the purpose of getting to make jokes way later on in their arc. This is my favorite example of this 😭😭

While it's a film that definitely might require a rewatch, as the plot moves at an almost rapid pace, "Disclosure Day" is an emotional thriller that heavily prioritizes characterization with each member of the cast having their own arc that tie together in the end.

Just a reminder that Toy Story 5 is also Co-Directed by Kenna Harris who's non-binary, making them the first non-binary director for Pixar movie. Since TS5 will likely be box office juggernaut like 3 and 4, between them and Gooseworx, it's a huge win for trans individuals in the animation scene atm
