Having trouble with my vision of trying to make a chat UI that isn't "recent list you have to scroll" which means people who are quiet/anxious fall out of visibility over time. Turns out people have little empathy for "too many people want to talk to me" which is understandable I suppose.
People who are perceived as being "out of touch" or "too busy to talk to anyone" probably don't want to be that way by choice, but the current systems for socializing 1 on 1 online just do not work at scale in a way that intuitive or fair. Social media is a bandaid for this, but its not what I want.
Finally worked up the courage to ask the building manager if I could go into this hole and he replied almost instantly "OVER MY DEAD BODY" which is the first time ive ever actually had that phrase used on me in earnest 😭😭😭😭😭

I think it would be helpful for more people than others might guess! I know a lot of people who have anxiety of their own (including myself) about not being able to manage chat contacts in a reasonable way. But theres a stigma of "must be nice so many people want to talk to you" impeding progress
