I'm hosting another lunch & learn session! And this time I'm bringing a friend: Curtis Brown with Probe Research. We'll be talking all about polls. How they work. How to make sense of the results. And the role public opinion research plays in our world today. 🧵
Had a chance to speak with Andrew Nichols on CBC News Network about this yesterday. After the interview I heard from people — in Alberta & other parts of the country — who said they didn't realize: a) There are going to be TEN questions in the referendum b) Each question gets a separate ballot.
"With every other order of government working furiously to implement its vision for Alberta and Canada, the time is approaching quickly for Mayor Farkas and Calgary city council to start laying out their own..." Via @cwalcottyyc.bsky.social:
Alberta's referendum in October will include at least 10 questions. Each gets a **separate ballot**. That means Elections Alberta will print 45 million (!!) ballots. After polls close, by law, it has 48 hours to count all of them. It's currently recruiting 60,000 workers to pull it all off.
If that sounds interesting, please join us on Tuesday, June 16 at noon (Mountain Time)! Register here to receive the Google Meet link: forms.gle/iBMrC5Arhaj2... (And if there are any specific topics you'd like us to address, leave a comment here and we'll do our best to add them to the session 🙂 )

"Unlike traditional rooftop solar, which requires thousands of dollars in upfront costs, specialized mounting hardware & pro electricians, this system is designed for the everyday consumer... you hang the panel on a balcony or prop it up in a backyard & plug it directly into a standard wall outlet."
