PhD in Philosophy, working on ethics (esp. Bioethics, Ethics of Medicine). Politically frustrated. Horrible taste in movies; too many typos.

That's an interesting case of two timelines. The first one is that of quick publishing, the second one is that of slow checking. Errors happen, foul play has been flagged before. Bu the longer it takes to check it, the more piles up. Slow science has its values 🧪
Long story short: You need to have a lot of background info to have a good estimate regarding the outcome of an election at a particular time. That's particularly problematic when bad faith pundits feed on their followers illiteracy.
In case you don't know the entry (as I didn't) and need some motivation to get you started reading. This is the first sentence: "Some of us are secretly banging each other."
And of course different boxes hold different amounts of ballots. Winning an 800 ballots box is something else than winning a 30 ballots box. Even if you get half the votes.
Back when I did politics at university, you basically knew your voting boxes: Humanities leaning left, engineering right, economics liberal, etc. Of course, sometimes you are stronger or weaker in areas. But you generally know which boxes bring big changes about.
Extending my knowledge of Rom-Coms. Based on the '97 film itself based on Hornby's '92 book, surprisingly cute adoption. Has it all, including the run and the public announcement. Can't really get over Fallon as an actor, but that's my fault.

So, I was made aware of this today and now I wonder about your guesses on the author's gender. And yes, bsky needs a poll function. #philsky
