Jerry Ordway covered the ICG Official Justice League of America Index 6 (1986).
Metal Men no. 48 (Oct 1976) cover by Walt Simonson. Eclipso vs Metal Men is an idea that could’ve worked a decade earlier in the pages of The Brave & The Bold back before Batman started hogging all the glory. This is what you might call a “fun romp”, a fast-paced, action-packed story. Great cover!
Most of the time there's just no way Silver Age Superman stories live up to the cover's promise
I have been skeptical about this Nancy run because I don't think it's demonstrated the experimental playfulness with the form as defined on the strip by Ernie Bushmiller, which I think is the point of Nancy, but the more character-driven approach does allow for moments like this
I absolutely love Marvel’s mid-1960s “Pop Art” covers. It’s not nostalgia for my long-lost youth. I was barely 3 when the last one appeared & I never even twigged they existed until the 80s. But if not nostalgia, they do transmit a fascinating sense of place & time, of New York in the mid-Sixties.
Metal Men no. 47 (Sept 1976) cover art by Walt Simonson. Happened upon most of Walt’s run on this title for cheap the other day. Haven’t read them yet, but I’m a fan of his art so I snatched them all up.
I’ve met some of the people from those days in real life and enjoyed every single moment.
Reminds me of the fun I had back on Yahoo Clubs and Groups. Met some wonderful people from all walks of life
