Executions have resumed in #SaudiArabia following a pause during the Hajj season, with four Ethiopian nationals executed since Monday for “smuggling hashish”. 91 individuals have now been executed in 2026, the majority for drug-related crimes.
The charges against him are vague and contravene his right of free expression. ALQST condemns the prolonged delays, and calls for his immediate release.
Saudi authorities continue to endlessly stall the case of detained Islamic scholar Hassan al-Maliki. Almost nine years after his arrest in September 2017, he remains without a sentence. His last court hearing took place over three and a half years ago. ➡️ www.alqst.org/en/political...
ALQST urges the Saudi authorities to ensure the safety and welfare of Amr Abdelfattah, provide him with immediate medical attention, and independently investigate his allegations of torture and ill-treatment.
This follows a repeated pattern of Saudi authorities routinely endangering targeted prisoners through negligence, including knowingly placing them in cells and on wings where they may be at risk from other, potentially violent, prisoners, and failing to respond to complaints.
🚨 French national Amr Abdelfattah has been severely beaten by guards in Dhahban Prison. Due to injuries sustained, he was unable to attend his trial hearing. This came after he complained about sharing a cell with an inmate with mental health issues who was attacking others.
Saudi blogger and Wikipedia administrator Osama Khalid is serving a 14-year prison sentence for his online activism. Over 7⃣0⃣0⃣ people have now signed the petition calling for his release. #FreeOsamaKhalid 🖊️ Add your name here: www.change.org/p/release-os...
Saudi aid worker Abdulrahman al-Sadhan remains forcibly disappeared, serving 20 years for peaceful satire on X. Almost 20k have now signed the petition calling for his release. #FreeSadhan Add your name here: www.globalcitizen.org/en/action/sa...
A website has been launched to support the campaign to free Saudi human rights defender Abdulrahman al-Khalidi, who has spent almost 1700 days in administrative detention in Bulgaria. It provides key info about his case and ways to support the call to #FreeAlKhalidi. ➡️ free-alkhalidi.org
