🚨 French national Amr Abdelfattah has been severely beaten by guards in Dhahban Prison. Due to injuries sustained, he was unable to attend his trial hearing.
This came after he complained about sharing a cell with an inmate with mental health issues who was attacking others.
Executions have resumed in #SaudiArabia following a pause during the Hajj season, with four Ethiopian nationals executed since Monday for “smuggling hashish”.
91 individuals have now been executed in 2026, the majority for drug-related crimes.
ALQST urges the Saudi authorities to ensure the safety and welfare of Amr Abdelfattah, provide him with immediate medical attention, and independently investigate his allegations of torture and ill-treatment.
The charges against him are vague and contravene his right of free expression.
ALQST condemns the prolonged delays, and calls for his immediate release.
Saudi authorities continue to endlessly stall the case of detained Islamic scholar Hassan al-Maliki.
