I am halfway through Ainslie Hogarth's NORMAL WOMEN after listening to her talk about it on @nathanwhitlock.bsky.social's podcast, because MOTHERTHING was at once bleakly hilarious and one of the most upsetting things I've ever read (I don't know if it was supposed to make me cry but it 100% did!)
AND in a compLETE change of pace, I am cowriting a romantasy trilogy under a pen name - a Fourth Wing + sexy vampires kind of deal - and it is the silliest thing I have written possibly ever and also the most fun I have had writing books possibly ever
Hence code name Deeply Unserious Sexy Vampires

Amelinda excels at atmosphere, emotion, and dragging the reader into the visceral, bleak dread of the situations she creates.
If you haven't read her books yet, what are you waiting for???

So far NORMAL WOMEN is every bit as searing and I am both deeply curious about and deeply dreading where she's going with it 🫣🫣🫣
DONE LIST, contd
✅️ sorta mostly kinda tidied around main floor
✅️ swept main floor and stairs
✅️ dishwasher unload/reload/run
whyyyyyyyy does this feel like so goddamn much when there is a crap ton more to do 😭
one must imagine Sisyphus to have a clean house
All right I thiiiiiiiink I am getting some mojo back but to do lists are still too depressing to countenance
so instead I am going to try a GOT DONE list
SO FAR:
✅ 1200 words
✅ Planted swiss chard, green onions, carrots
MORE TO COME BY GOD
Also at 95K I am technically almost a week ahead...but also not really because I am running long AGAIN, goddammit
FORTUNATELY I appear to be at the stage where throwing words on the page is a lot easier so I will floor it for as long as I can and hopefully have time to hack at the results later
