Dems have an opportunity here to not only make the case that this GOP is to blame now for their falling behind, but they *always* are. It is, after all, the truth. Dem policies help rural Americans. We need to convince them of that not just for 2026/28, but move the needle for generational change.
My god, it's like FDR was onto something 100 years ago!

"So the potential for a very, very broad midterm map looms large. Democrats should be contesting territory everywhere. And they appear to be doing just that."

I don’t have it in me to truly hope for some of these seats to flip but I will root for it without reservation
Dems really should be contesting races everywhere, even in some very red areas. Because in a year like this, surprises are very possible, and they can take place in some very unexpected places:

These working class voters respond well to a populist economics that centers villains (pharma, corporate price gouging, etc), hits Trump/GOP for enabling them, and pledges Dem action. They don't like the tariffs and the war.

"Nor does the “working class” map neatly onto the mid-twentieth century picture of the predominantly white, heavily male industrial working class that—bafflingly—remains a touchstone in our political debates. The working classes—for the purposes of our politics—span all kinds of people."

Some new research on working-class voters makes it clear. They’re furious at Trump—and they want a message from Democrats that pledges specific action.
