I would HAPPILY make a Simple English edition of any of my works, if there were demand for it.
But they don't want that. They want their reading level canonized as the highest reading level. Nobody is allowed to exceed that because it makes them feel lesser.
T'Pring: honestly I never thought the phrase "I want that twink obliterated" was like a sexual thing. Like when I read the phrase I imagine "a meteor like the one that killed the dinosaurs is summoned from the heavens and kills the twink in question" type situation.
And sometimes the servants *were* the sapphics!
You'd be careful to hire only the most discreet chambermaids to avoid having your business aired all over the county.
But I'm sure there were plenty who knew all about it and could be trusted to keep it quiet.

We *could* try rethinking the idea that people's value comes from their intelligence, but of course they won't do that either. They want to be able to look down on others. The existence of a word they don't know gets in the way of that. So ban them all.
