📰 Chronic Illness News from the Past Week: 1️⃣ A miniature injectable device is being developed that will help treat chronic pain and movement disorders. This new device is the size of a seed and powered wirelessly! www.news-medical.net/news/2026061... #ChronicIllnessCommunity ⬇️ more ⬇️
2️⃣ A new study found that people with celiac disease showed consistent differences in immune cell function, even before symptoms develop. The researchers hope these findings will lead to more personalised monitoring and better care in the future. bionewscentral.com/researchers-...

#ChronicIllness The surgery has officially been rescheduled to, tentatively, August 8. 😮‍💨 Depending on blood tests. Having bloods redone Saturday, but ENT guy agrees with rheumy, neutrophils too low for surgery. 🫣 My arthritis meds have been stopped too, so I'm likely to have a rough few weeks.😕

The saga continues. Just got my blood test results. Neutrophils are still low. As I write, I have no idea if #surgery will go ahead or not. Letter from ENT says, in part: "Ms D's chronic sinusitis symptoms are significant potential risk of disease extension to the orbit and brain continue..." 🧵 1
Blood test done. Results Monday. I'm a bit emotionally fragile. I cried driving home. Sometimes doing all this fighting diseases completely alone is draining. Every now & then it would be nice to have someone hold my hand. It is what it is, though. OK, that's enough openness for today.

"Winter has permission built into it. Staying in is normal..Needing rest maps onto what the #season asks of everyone. #Summer asks everyone to be at their most alive & if your #body can’t do that, there’s nowhere to hide it.": buff.ly/HC1igw7 by @thethrivingspoonie.com #ChronicIllness #disability
🧵 2 So I'm sitting here waiting for the specialists to make the call. Risk of infection with surgery versus risk of brain issues if surgery is delayed. I wish I wasn't sitting at home alone, frankly. #ChonicIllness

3️⃣ Researchers from Radboud University Medical Center have developed a new test that is better able to diagnose rare genetic disorders, provides a much more complete picture of DNA, and can replace fifteen other tests! www.news-medical.net/news/2026061...

A Chronic Voice
I'm a bit scared. One of my blood tests (not sure which one) is a bit low for protecting me from infection during & post my surgery next week, so my rheumatologist has taken me off my two magic meds temporarily. No idea how my inflammatory arthritic conditions will react to that! 🧵1
