Thank you for signing EDM240, @sarahowen.org.uk!
I think many others were also not reassured or convinced by the EHRC’s answer to the Women & Equalities Committee’s questions yesterday.
She signed today. Another unimpressed by the EHRC yesterday?
It ought to be so easy to shift the blame here onto a historically bad Supreme Court fuck up or the EHRC bungling the practicalities.
But they acted so stupidly and rashly, Labour have to own it.
I have signed the fatal motion on the code of practice.
The answers to the questions I raised below - and to those from other committee members - fell far short of anything workable, just or fair.
Labour could have had a lot more political wiggle room on the FWS debacle if they had just given themselves time to digest and understand the fallout in April last year.
They could now be saying this is incoherent and impractical and stepping in.
Instead they fell over themselves to welcome it.

If the state has the capacity to control who uses toilets, then it should have the capacity to attack the agents of hostile foreign powers who are inciting racist riots. And if it doesn't, then it is not fit for purpose.

GCs lying and making up shit, again.
FOI requests of NHS trusts covering a period of three years discovered a grand total of one minor complaint.
That’s the “demand from the public”: another GC phantasm.
An appeal to our followers and supporters: if you haven't already written to your MP asking them to sign onto EDM 240, please do it today.
