One of the many contradictions of this technology is that it only really makes sense if you run it on your own machine, but the entire industry is behaving as though there are network-effect lock-ins akin to social media.
As someone who has had four entire careers, I'm 100% on board with this. I didn't fail at any of them. I hit glass ceilings in every single one.
you see, wind turbines and solar panels very rarely do this

I increasingly believe the future of AI is going to be locally-hosted models running on our own devices, not subject to export bans or the whims of companies. My latest for @tomshardware.com on my own setup www.tomshardware.com/tech-industr...
Can we just de-shame leaving any job or industry? I’m wanting to make a complete career change and there’s so much nonsense and it’s framed as failure and I don’t see it that way at all. The world changed, and my life changed, and I changed. Even if it was just a whim, I don’t see the problem???

When Trump went to war with Iran, I watched every speech anyone in the administration gave and made a chart of every reason given for going to war "Eliminate ballistic capability" was the #1 reason given: more even than preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon

Fifth in our Commodore 64 update is a very rare early look at Paul Shirley's Spindizzy. With missing graphics and colour schemes and possible unseen content that may have been dropped from the final release. Could be lots to discover here: www.gamesthatwerent.com/gtw64/spindi... (6/7)

This is what disk mould looks like. If you see this on your old disks then clean them BEFORE putting them into a disk drive. Otherwise, you are likely to clog up the drive read/write head and/or possibly damage the disk. Clean with diluted Isopropyl alcohol ( IPA ) on a soft, lint-free cloth.

Fourth in our Commodore 64 update is a special glimpse at what became 'Bombo' by Rino. Rooster Booster had different sprites and titles, and it seems was due for full release by Alligata. Fully playable and a unique early look at a classic game: www.gamesthatwerent.com/gtw64/rooste... (5/7)
