No floor penetrations needed for this shower. All above the floor, including the WC. 👍
I feel like we should have changed course once fire-stopping became a thing but we really dug in further.
it's official: these new bathrooms in pdx airport represent the peak of human accomplishment.
individual, private rooms. no gaps.

It still baffles me how few individuals working within the AEC industry participate in the code development process. If you can’t commit to being on committees, you can still submit proposals and public comments on proposals! The technical committees are literally forced to review it and vote on it.
If you’ve ever wondered why water quality controls can be so much smaller than water quantity controls (and honestly, who hasn’t), when that means only a small fraction of the rainwater is getting treated—this is why!

If you are an AIA member, I would *strongly* urge you to apply to the Codes and Standards Committee. There is a big opportunity there to push codes in a pro-housing direction, but they need more multifamily architects who see the vision on the committee to get them there. www.aia.org/advocacy/cod...
Under woke 2.0 “soy” has been gloriously reclaimed as a way of referring to weak, ineffectual, and corrupt liberals. You know, the ones that literally delivered Trump to us
You absolutely can improve water quality with small detention volumes though, because what you really need to capture is that first flush of rainwater carrying all the surface pollutants (suspended solids, metals…etc)
The rain that falls after that is much larger in volume, but much less dirty
