There is a middle ground here.
Adequately describing the image is the minimum, but there is room, plenty of it, for humour.

If you want to tell me I'm misusing alt text here what you need to do is back up your accusation by additionally going around the entirety of Bluesky having a go at every single person who has posted a photo of, say, a door in a wall with alt text that says "a door in a wall".
