Bari Weiss was exactly like this on a smaller stage, as my editor when I wrote book reviews for the WSJ over a decade ago, constantly trying trying to inject her politics into my pieces, even post copy editing.
Having (unfortunately) had some experience with the 2014 outbreak, my main takeaway from COVID was that West Africans were if anything pretty level headed about how they dealt with the situation.
