Our latest work on shape-programmable tissues is out in @science.org. By positioning topological defects in cellular nematics, we encode frustrated 2D force fields that relax into predictable 3D shapes. Collaboration with Marino Arroyo’s lab, led by @pauguillamat.bsky.social at @ibecbarcelona.eu.
Very happy to announce that I will be joining the Faculty of Biology & @cibss.bsky.social at @uni-freiburg.de as an Emmy-Noether funded group leader. We will tackle the molecular and genetic basis of developmental timing and size control using diverse Oryzias species. We are hiring at all levels !

*Sharing code for research publications* Here's the process that I've ended up with, through various collaborators like Robert Forkel, @simongreenhill.bsky.social , Stephen Francis Mann and others. Not perfect perhaps, but works pretty ok. A student asked, so I made this illustration.

Our study on shape diversity in cnidarians is now published. The final version includes extensive new data that substantially extend the original bioRxiv preprint. Congrats to everyone who contributed to this work! www.cell.com/cell/fulltex... @embl.org
🌱🔬We’re exciting to be hosting a new webinar series on quantitative plant imaging with @ajcellbio.bsky.social & @joemckenna.bsky.social. The first webinar will be on 30 April at 15:00 BST. For more info and to sign up to our mailing list or volunteer to give a talk ⤵️
