Ok, so that's the thing!
The Bennets' income (2,000lbs/yr) put them in the top 0.2% of English society at the time. To do that in today's US, you'd have to make $20M/yr.
They were, in fact, kinda ludicrously wealthy!
And the inheritance structure wasn't as big a problem as people think it was!

They were wealthy, but not ridiculously so, but the real issue was that the inheritance was structured such that neither the wife nor any of the daughters could inherit anything when Mr. Bennet died. The girls all needed to marry money.
