As part of our Long Light, Deep Roots weekend exhibition and solstice event, we are delighted to have @brigitstrawbridge.bsky.social with us. She will be offering free bee talks! A wonderful opportunity to learn about the ‘other’ bees and what we can do to support them.💛
In case it is of interest to anyone, this is the book I use to study habitats with my grandson. It’s absolutely brilliant and I cannot recommend it highly enough!
My author copies of my new book, Tarka Revisited - 100 Years of Rivers & Wildlife, have arrived! Feels so good to hold in my hands. Thanks to all at @pelagic.bsky.social

This extremely pretty little fly is (I think?) a Small Signal Fly (Rivellia syngenesiae) - identified using the fabulous new book "A photographic guide to FLIES of Britain & Ireland"

A beautiful Crab Spider guarding her nest. If you look closely you can see a few of her recently hatched spiderlings.
Spotted under a nettle leaf in one of the Cornwall Open Gardens we visited yesterday...
Please can anyone tell me which type of beetle this is? I know a few different species visit, and pollinate, Magnolia flowers - including sap beetles and pollen beetles, but can't tell which is which. Thank you!

Nature Study days with my grandson get more interesting the older he gets.
Now studying the mosaic habitats of Bodmin Moor. Areas of gorse, open moorland & old mines are perfect for Meadow Pipits, Cuckoos, Wheatears & Stonechats
Indy chose the Stonechat for his Nature Journal. Blanket Bogs next!
Take part in our brand new Birds in Greenspaces survey for a day➡️ www.bto.org/greenspaces 🐦
We’re encouraging everyone to sign up, download the app and give it a go. 🌳 Just explore your local greenspace, which could be a park, football pitch or cemetery & record the birds that you see or hear.
Last call for my talk tomorrow (Monday) evening.
