I talked to someone from Denmark about their social safety net compared to ours. While 8 months of paid maternity leave sounded good, they conceded that having a massive and ineffective security state and large highways everywhere might have its upsides.
My wife and kids have been out of town for the last week at various locations. Since they left, I drove 8 miles one day and otherwise walked or biked around Cville plus train/metro in DC. Life is better when it’s not in a car.
