Studying animal behavior outside the lab is hard. We show it can be done by using the open-source LabGym to analyze Punch from real-world, crowd-sourced videos.
Our goal: democratize animal behavior analysis with AI. We hope this project makes LabGym more accessible—and empowers anyone to study the animals they care about.
Huge credit to Bobby Tomlinson
@btoml.bsky.social, a talented computer scientist in my lab at the University of Michigan, who is leading this project. Three fantastic undergraduates Alisa Ficiciyan, Myra Lyu, and Alexander Chumak contributed to this work.
