The higher the share of non-Swiss residents in a municipality, the *lower* the support for the far-right SVP initiative to cap Switzerland’s population at 10M.

In 2026, Switzerland voted on two initiatived launched by the far-right SVP:
▪️cutting funding for the public broadcaster
▪️capping the population at 10M.
Both were rejected. Yet for months, they dominated the agenda. More than CHF 20M were spent on the campaigns. These resources now lack elsewhere
