The Ivory Gull is an endangered species in Canada... and even though we think of the Yukon being in the north, it usually stays well north of the territory, scavenging Polar Bear kills and suchlike. Thanks to Cameron Eckert and Pam Sinclair for finding this fantastic bird!

Big excitement in Carcross, Yukon today, when an Ivory Gull was spotted resting on the ice at Bennett Lake. I'm not sure how (or why?) it got there but it was great to get my lifer! This is a bird of the High Arctic, and there are only two previous records for the Yukon...
