#OnThisDay 1982 Rock The Casbah by The Clash released It was the 2nd single off Combat Rock (their 5th album) It was their only Top Ten in the USA (No8) but it only reached No30 in the UK (but a re-release in 1991 went to No15) The lyrics are in English,Arabic,Hebrew,Turkish and Sanskrit
#OnThisDay 1973 A little touch of Schmilsson in the night by Harry Nilsson was released Nilsson’s 9th album and was reworkings of 20th century standards The album was recorded at Wembley studios in London and was dedicated to Frank Wills (the security guard who discovered the Watergate break in)
#OnThisDay 1983 Chop Chop by Killing Joke released The single was off their 3rd album Revelations It was the last album with the original line up They played the song on Top of the Pops without the lead singer Jaz Coleman (he had fled to Iceland fearing a nuclear holocaust)
#OnThisDay 1981 Pretty in Pink by The Psychedelic Furs released The single was taken from their 2nd album Talk Talk Talk The original only made it to No43 on the UK charts but in 1986 it was used in the John Hughes “Brat Pack” movie that used its song title (and the re-release went to No18)
